Privacy Policy

ClaudeREF is designed to collect as little personal data as practical: no public accounts, analytics, advertising trackers, mailing list, or contact form.

Last updated: August 3, 2026

Who is responsible

The data controller for this site is Shai Chikorel, Israel. More information is available on the About page. Privacy requests can be sent through the public contact channel on GitHub. Please do not include passwords, API keys, health information, or other sensitive data in a public GitHub issue.

Information processed

  • Ordinary visits: the server and reverse proxy necessarily receive an IP address, request URL, timestamp, browser or user-agent information, referrer when supplied, and response status. Routine proxy access logging is not enabled. Error and security logs may contain some request metadata.
  • Browser preferences: theme and colour-palette choices are stored in your browser's local storage. ClaudeREF does not receive these values as tracking data.
  • Private administration: the password form is for the site owner and authorised administrators only. A successful login creates a secure, HTTP-only, same-site session cookie. The password is checked on the server and is not deliberately retained by the application.
  • YouTube: video pages request the video's thumbnail from YouTube, so Google may receive your IP address, browser information, referrer, and existing Google or YouTube cookie data when the image loads. The YouTube player is not loaded until you select the clearly labelled load/play control. Google may then process additional device data and use cookies or similar storage under its own privacy terms.
  • Messages sent elsewhere: if you contact the maintainer through GitHub, GitHub processes that interaction under its own terms and privacy statement.

ClaudeREF does not knowingly collect public profile data, payment information, precise location, advertising identifiers, or special-category/sensitive information.

Purposes and legal bases

  • Delivering the requested pages, preventing abuse, diagnosing faults, and protecting the site rely on the operator's legitimate interests in running a secure reference site.
  • Browser preferences are stored only when needed to remember the option you select.
  • Displaying a video's YouTube-hosted thumbnail supports the operator's legitimate interest in identifying the referenced media. The YouTube player relies on your affirmative choice to load it; you may decline and still read the complete written article.
  • Legal obligations may require limited processing or preservation of records.

Service providers and transfers

  • Hetzner Online GmbH hosts the application on a server in Germany.
  • Cloudflare provides authoritative DNS. Website requests go directly to the Hetzner server rather than through Cloudflare's content proxy.
  • Google/YouTube receives request data when a video thumbnail loads, after you load a player, or when you follow a YouTube link.
  • GitHub receives data when you follow a GitHub link or contact the maintainer there.

Some providers may process data outside your country. Their published privacy terms and applicable contractual or statutory safeguards govern those transfers.

Retention

  • Theme and palette preferences remain in your browser until you clear or replace them.
  • The private admin session expires after at most seven days or when it is cleared.
  • Application error logs are size-rotated and kept only as operationally necessary, unless a security incident or legal obligation requires longer preservation.
  • ClaudeREF does not maintain a marketing or visitor-profile database.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask whether personal data is held, request access, correction, deletion or restriction, object to processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a supervisory authority. Because the public site does not create user accounts, the operator may have little or no data that can be linked back to you.

You may contact the maintainer through GitHub. Residents of Israel may also contact the Israeli Privacy Protection Authority. EEA residents may complain to their local data protection authority.

Children and changes

ClaudeREF is a technical reference for a general audience and is not directed at children. The operator does not knowingly collect children's personal information. Material changes to this policy will be posted here with a revised date.
